These melt-in-you-mouth cinnamon rolls can be made in advance so they are perfect for holidays, company and busy mornings. The whipped cream cheese icing melts a bit, sinking into every groove and the top stays whipped and gorgeous. P.S. These can be baked the same day as well, just let them rise instead of putting them in the refrigerator.

FAQs

Can I leave my cinnamon roll dough out overnight? ›

(Do not leave them out at room temperature for any longer than needed.)

Keep the temperature warm to the touch, around 100–110°F (38–43°C). An instant read thermometer is a handy tool for this baking recipe and many others.

Is it OK to leave dough overnight? ›

How to fix cinnamon roll dough that didn't rise? ›

Increasing the temperature and moisture can help activate the yeast in the dough so it rises. You can also try adding more yeast. Open a new packet of yeast and mix 1 teaspoon (3 g) of it with 1 cup (240 mL) of warm water and 1 tablespoon (13 g) of sugar. Let the yeast mixture proof for 10 minutes.

What temperature kills yeast? ›

Too Hot to Survive. Regardless of the type of yeast you use, if your water reaches temperatures of 120°F or more, the yeast will begin to die off. Once water temps reach 140°F or higher, that is the point where the yeast will be completely killed off.

How do you know if cinnamon roll dough has risen enough? ›

Physically test your dough with the poke test

Lightly flour your finger and poke the dough down about 1". If the indent stays, it's ready to bake. If it pops back out, give it a bit more time. The poke test is especially helpful for free-form breads like cinnamon rolls.

Can I use evaporated milk instead of heavy cream? ›

Can you let Rhodes cinnamon rolls rise overnight? ›

Spray your pan with cooking spray. Place frozen dough on your pan. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap to keep from sticking to dough while rising. Place your pan in the refrigerator overnight or all day long.

How long before a cinnamon roll goes bad? ›

If you store them like conventional breads, where they're tightly wrapped and in a bread bag in the bread box, they'll last between 3 and 5 days, but you shouldn't go beyond that, or they'll start to taste stale. If you store them in the fridge, they'll last a bit longer, perhaps up to 7 days.

Should you chill cinnamon roll dough? ›

Even if you let the dough rise in a warm place, it's best to let it chill before shaping. The benefit is that you'll find the dough much easier to roll out and shape. This means you'll have tighter, more uniform rolls after baking.
