Chocolate Dip for Fruit

When it comes to satisfying my sweet tooth, the combination of dark chocolate + strawberry is pretty darn great every single time.

This Chocolate Dip recipe always hits the spot, and it keeps longer and is easier to eat than traditional chocolate-covered strawberries (sorry, but I can take or leave those, and I mostly mean leave them).

This rich, deep chocolate dessert spread is made with simple ingredients and keeps in the fridge so it’s ready when you are. Use it for just about any kind of fruit or other dunk-able treat you can think of.

Why you’ll love this Chocolate Fruit Dip Recipe

  • It’s equally perfect for a party or a sweet afternoon snack.
  • It keeps in the fridge for several days, making it an easy make-ahead recipe for a potluck.
  • A little bit of chocolate is a fun way to encourage kids to eat fruit (once in awhile).

Chocolate Dip ingredients

  • cream cheese – the creamy and tangy base of this spread.
  • dark chocolate – you will need 6 ounces of high quality dark chocolate for this chocolate fruit dip. I useHarvest ChocolateUganda Snacking Chocolate. It is a rich 68% dark chocolate with notes of molasses and fig.
  • powdered sugar – sweetens the dip and balances the pleasant bitterness of dark chocolate.
  • milk – thins out the dip a bit, making it easier to dunk into. Whole milk or 2% milk works best here, if you have it!
  • vanilla extract – enhances the overall flavor profile by adding a subtle vanilla undertone.

What’s the best chocolate to use for Chocolate Fruit Dip?

You may remember from ourchocolate peppermint cookies that I’ll be working together with Elizabeth (my childhood neighbor!) and her husband Matt atHarvest Chocolatein Tec*mseh, Michigan to bring you chocolate dessert recipes.

These former restaurant chefs create chocolate that is not only delicious, butethically sourced and environmentally sustainable. They source their beans directly from farmers, ensuring fair wages and sustainable farming practices.

Their products are simplythe best chocolate I’ve ever tasted, and I’m so lucky to have them developing amazing chocolate recipes for you!

While I mentioned above that we used theirUganda Snacking Chocolateto develop this recipe, any of their varieties (they also have Haiti, Guatemala and Ecuador) would work great in this dip.

Home Chef Tips for this Chocolate Dip Recipe

  • Make sure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature (or soften it in the microwave for a few seconds), as cold cream cheese will be nearly impossible to mix into a smooth dip.
  • Adjust the thickness to your liking by adding more or less milk, if desired.
  • You can also adjust the amount of powdered sugar based on your sweetness preference. If you’re a dark chocolate lover, you may want a little less sugar.
