Whodunnit? The Risk of Hanging Art in a Public Space….#Nailsworth

Stolen Elephant PrintThis print was taken recently from my exhibition at The Vault in Nailsworth.  It is rather strange and fortunate that although I had hung the original painting which I am very fond of in the exhibition I then changed my mind and switched it for the print.  There is only one print of this painting.  So if you see this anywhere other than in my possession it is the one that has been stolen.  It is sad isn’t it that this should have happened..?

New #Bird #Painting – House #Sparrows

My reference for this small painting was a photograph given to me by an elderly neighbour who loved taking pictures of garden birds.  I shall be giving this as a gift to a lady who is 90 years young today.

Diane Young & Rachel Markwick @vaultnailsworth

Here is a glimpse of my half of our new #art show at the Vault pub in #Nailsworth (opposite the Clock along from Morrisons).  Pop in after Midday to late evening to take a look at our work hanging upstairs on those lovely blue walls.  The exhibition is running until after Christmas.

New Art Show at The #Vault in #Nailsworth

Caroline Saturley who won the Stroud Life Award for Business Woman of 2017 has kindly invited myself and Rachel Markwick to hang a new art show at The Vault in Nailsworth from now until the end of December.  We are getting great feedback on how good it looks already!

Strange Owls and Coincidences

Sold! From  Studio No 71 in Totnes, my Barn Owl with Stopwatch original painting with gold leaf.

Barn Owl with gold leaf by artist Diane Young at Studio No 71 Totnes

Barn Owl framed

This weekend after a trip to Dartmoor we dropped in to collect some work from Studio 21 which has a great position at the bottom of the High Street.  The shop is small but packed with interesting things to discover; pictures, sculptures, plates and bowls and glass and pottery and more!

Not only did we arrive on a day when a customer was about to purchase one of my original paintings, but Studio No 71 had also sold a framed Moongazing Hare print of mine during that day too.

How strange, not to have sold for quite some time, and then two in one day and when I was visiting!

It is so nice to meet the individual who likes my art enough to buy it and hang it on their wall.  An image that I have formed from my imagination strikes its own chord with another person, and off it goes on its own journey, in this instance wrapped and strapped onto a bicycle!

Grateful for time with friends and walks on Dartmoor just as the season is turning and when such coincidences are a delight.
