  • 1 package Italian dressing mix
  • cups beef broth
  • 1 loaf French Bread
  • 4 slices Provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Set your instant pot to SAUTE and let it heat up.

  • Add sliced steak and italian dressing mix and saute meat with vegetables for 2 minutes.

  • Pour in beef broth and stir one last time.

  • Hit CANCEL on your instant pot to shut off the saute feature.

  • Place lid on Instant pot with valve set to “sealing.”

  • Select PRESSURE COOK or MANUAL and set timer for 8 minutes.

  • After timer runs out, let your Instant Pot do a natural release for 10 minutes.

  • Optional: Toast or broil your sandwich to melt the cheese.

Notes

  • After Instant Pot Timer runs out, let your Instant Pot do a natural release for 10 minutes.
  • If you like your sandwiches toasted, place your open faced sandwich in the oven and broil on high for a few minutes, keeping an eye on it. Or in your toaster oven.

How to turn this into a freezer meal:

Place olive oil, green bell pepper, onion, cut up steak, and Italian dressing mix into a gallon-sized freezer bag.

Place freezer bag into freezer and it will last up to 90 days. When ready to use, dump ingredients from bag into Instant Pot and add 1 1/4 cups beef broth in with the frozen food.

Place the lid on top, move the valve to SEALING, and press the MANUAL button. Set timer for 25 minutes. Do a NATURAL RELEASE when the timer is done – I even like to let it sit in the Instant Pot for a few hours so that it falls apart so easily. Follow the rest of the instructions as written.

  7. Ashley says:

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm prepping this tonight. What is the cook time from frozen?

  8. Megan Mulholland says:

Also wondering the instructions for making once it’s frozen. Directions seem to be for making it fresh. Also wondering what directions would be for a slow cooker after frozen

  9. Cyd says:

In the beef and broccoli video she sauteed the frozen beef until it was browned on the edges and thawed enough that it broke apart. But then just follow the recipe as directed. The beef will thaw during the saute cooking time. Hope this helps!

  10. Mrs Mike says:

this was AMAZING. There is a video on the YouTube channel for freezing these ahead for those asking. I couldn't believe how great the flavor was and how tender (I know, it's an IP meal, I shouldn't be surprised!) this turned out. This is a definitely a new family favorite and since I can prep and freeze, it will be perfect on nights where I'm working late and need something fast. :)

  11. Melissa says:

The video said 8 minutes in the instant pot for thin slices up to 15 minutes for thick slices. In the slow cooker on low for 4 hrs. Here is a link to the video, at 13:20 is the information they give.https://youtu.be/rHCA_nrVgZ0Hope this helps.

  12. Momma Cyd says:

The meat we used in the video was precooked. So it doesn't take as long too cook. If you purchase raw meat it will take a little longer.

  13. Wendy says:

Loved the flavor, loved how tender the meat was—but my green pepper essentially disintegrated in the Instant Pot. Any suggestions how to avoid that? Maybe cut it into larger pieces?

  14. Momma Cyd says:

Yes, just cut into larger pieces if you aren't trying to hide it from the kids!

  15. Carol Kitchen says:

For this particular recipe, if I'm making it a freezer meal, should I cook up the meat first or can I freeze it with the veggies raw?
